Ending Office Thermostat Wars

The temperature in an office can be a hot topic for discussion. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on what the perfect thermostat setting is. In order to prevent AC wars from breaking out in your office, we've put together some tips on how to keep everyone comfortable.

Keep reading for our best advice on how to adjust the thermostat and stay warm during winter!

Get a Work Sweater

If you're someone who gets cold easily, we recommend keeping a work sweater or blanket on hand. This way, you can stay cozy without cranking up the thermostat for everyone else in the office.

Invest in a Space Heater

Space heaters are another great option for personal comfort. Just be sure to keep your space heater away from any flammable materials, and never leave it unattended.

Talk to Your Co-Workers

If you're not comfortable with the temperature in the office, have a conversation with your co-workers. See if there's a consensus on what the ideal thermostat setting should be. If everyone can agree on a comfortable temperature, you can avoid thermostat wars altogether!

Find the Right Temperature for the Whole Office

The best way to prevent thermostat wars is to find the right temperature for the whole office. Do this by playing with the temperature over the course of a few weeks to find the temperature that feels the best. This might take some trial and error, but once you find the perfect setting, everyone will be happy!

Use a Dummy Thermostat

If you want to avoid thermostat wars altogether, you can use a dummy thermostat. This is a thermostat that doesn't actually control the temperature in the office. Instead, it's used as a way to prevent office disagreements about temperature settings.

Set the Thermostat to the Ideal Temperature

Set the thermostat to the ideal temperature to avoid an all-out office thermostat war. This might take some trial and error, but once you and your coworkers agree on the perfect setting, everyone will be happy!

Some offices set their thermostats at around 71°F. It's recommended that you keep the thermostat between 69 and 72°F to keep the entire office cold and comfortable. This is the standard set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to set a standard for temperature and humidity levels in an office space.
