Characteristics of Eco-Friendly Air Conditioning Units

Going green can not only be beneficial to planet Earth but also to your pocket. One of the first steps you can take to help conserve energy includes choosing the right air conditioning system for your home. According to Greener Ideal, a website dedicated to providing tips on going green, there are seven characteristics to look for in an AC Unit, that will result in energy-savings.

One of the characteristics to look for is the size of your AC. Choosing a unit that is under-sized will overwork the equipment and waste electricity increasing your home’s energy bills.  As Greener Ideal explains “A too-small unit won’t be able to balance the air cooled in the unit’s condenser with the humid, expended air that the evaporator draws out from the home.”

Another important thing to look for is a two-stage compressor, which works more effectively in cooling your home. Also installing a programmable thermostat will allow you to program the thermostat so the AC turns off when you’re not at home and turns on automatically when you return.  If you would like to find out about the different characteristics of an Eco-friendly AC contact us.
